The Teachers

Currently, New Age English School has a total of 2 full-time teachers; the Manager Ms. Mary J Thompson, an English native speaker with teaching qualifications from Australia, and the Director Mrs. Mitsue Tashiro.
The school also has one other Japanese staff, Mrs. Maasa Ichie, who assists with classes and aids in the office management at the school. The following introduces to you the foreign, English native staff.

Ms. Mary Thompson
Manager
English Curriculum Co-ordinator

Hello. My name is Mary Thompson. I was born in Brisbane, Australia. In 1987 I first came to Oyamada to live and teach English in Kuwana. After that I returned to Australia to Queensland University where I completed my Diploma of Education, majoring in Japanese. Once I completed my degree I taught at a private Girls' High School in Brisbane as the Head of the Japanese Department and taught Japanese for 6 years. I was also on the panel for Japanese in the Brisbane South Division and supervised student-teachers from Queensland University whom were wanting to become Japanese teachers.
After these 6 years, I returned to Japan and taught for 3 years at a private Catholic Girls' Junior and Senior High School in Sendai City, Miyagi, to teach English. In the year 2000, I returned to my "hometown" Oyamada to open an English Conversation School with my very good friend, Mrs Mitsue Tashiro. At present I am managing and am the English Curriculum Co-ordinator of this school, which Mitsue Tashiro and I named New Age English School. We have 120 students at present and I love my work more than ever teaching and managing at our school here in Oyamada.
I would be more than happy to show you all this beautiful school anytime if you are in our part of the world!
